Dispatch Update of August 16th

Things have been heating up lately with the Dispatched. Clan challenges issued, game nights hosted, and various movie projects rapidly approaching deadlines. Its a bundle of treats!

Dispatch Community Game Night #4

Yes, there was an official DCGN this past Wednesday. Although it wasn’t really announced, we thought we’d through a surprising swing at the fans. The end result, probably one of our most explicit and epic game nights to date.

I would go into full detail of each of the games we played, but I will cover a few of the more memorable ones.

Game 1: Run Like Hell on Foundry

Gametype: Infection

Tone: Don’t. Look. Back!

Pretty straightforward fun shoot em’ up Infection gametype. Keep running until we get to an armory of goodies and make our final stand. The hardest part was the beginning as few fell victim to the zombie onslaught running rampantly after the humans. A great highlight was when the map’s scripted cages fell and trapped several zombies for the remainder of the game.

Game 2: Prophecy Assault on Sandtrap

Gametype: Assault

Tone: Classic Epicness

Throughout most of the game night, we had the greatest connection in all our games. It was simply amazing. We all agreed that we have never enjoyed such large parties with the finest connection, which made this gametype all the more enjoyable to play.

Banshee squadrons kept the air sizzling with plasma, snipers picked off infantry, tank and warthog divisions attempted to do their best to break through the center. You just had to be there to see it for yourself!

Banshee squadrons darting through the heated air of a corpse drenched battlefield

A battle of epic proportions ensued on all fronts… And not a single bit of lag!

Game 3: Marines Vs Covenant on Valhalla

Gametype: Assault

Tone: More epic hawtness

As if Sandtrap wasn’t enough! Valhalla was just as fun as snipers had to constantly keep infantry in check, lasers dodged, and bases glassed by Wraith mortar fire. This battle belonged in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It was too bad that Aragorn didn’t have an energy sword.

Hornet pilots scramble to the landing pads as the battle begins with heavy artillery fire.

There were a handful of other games that we played, but these were probably the most memorable and most enjoyable of the bunch (even though a round of Bumper Cars and Blackstone was pretty fun as well).

To close this report, our cameraman Deadite has created a highlight reel for your viewing pleasure. Don’t forget to watch in high quality!

Youtube: DCGN 4: Night of the Flying Warthogs

New Site. New Look. New System.

More change! You may remember me mentioning an upgrade to Wordpress Blogging system in one of our past updates, well, many thanks to Qwait for the installation and upgrade, we now have a much better site and blog system for you guys and the updates.

As for “new look”, you can see that our homepage looks finer than ever. Sporting our new insignia that I photoshopped (with some inspiration from Gears of War of course).

Blackstone Log 2

I think it is safe to say it will be coming out within a week or so. Just need to edit up some more schtuff here and there…

Prophecy Episode 4

Looks unbelievably great. You guys are in for a treat this September hopefully…

DCGN #5?

May be a possibility sometime this week… May be

That’s it for now ladies and gents. Enjoy the rest of your Summer vacation and don’t forget to wear some sun lotion hitting those beaches! Later.

Dispatch Update of August 9th

Image

Our first clan match with the notorious Praetoria Guard and some nifty crumbs.

It was definitely a memorable match, especially for our first ever clan challenge. We were very grateful and honored to be matched against the titans of Praetoria Guard. To put it in simple terms, it was epic stuff.

The Heroes

The 508th

LT1 = Overlord and part-time nubcake
Achronaut = "Recon prizes?"
Flamingwindz = That other dude
Kevin = Clan cookie monster

The Challenged Praetoria

Odysseus = Recreational nub pwning planner
XSL = Can't spell excel
Duffeh D = Lord knows what that D stands for...
One Eyed Fool = Surprisingly has good vision

First hour was devoted to pure competitive game types. First to three get to go home the winners of the night.

Game One: Team Slayer on Guardian

To tell you the truth, it took us a long time to get our game face on for our first round. By the time we did get there, our game faces were full of tears when Praetoria scored the final kill.

We came to a realization that Praetoria was a force to be reckoned with...

Final Score: Praetoria, 50; 508th, 29

Game Two: Team Slayer on "Hang 'Em High" Foundry

Although we won this match, it was a shame to have played on this map. We all blame Achronaut for choosing such a disturbing rendition of a Halo classic...

Final Score: 508th, 50; Praetoria, 38

Game Three: CTF on the Pit

To put it in simple terms: We. Got. Owned.

Not only was Praetoria so coordinated in their offenses, they made certain that their flag did not move a single inch from their domain. It was like shooting fish in a barrel for them...

Final Score: Praetoria, 3; 508th, 0

Game Four: CTF on High Ground

Image

This was probably the most epic game. BR firefights, beat downs to the death, and rockets whizzing over heads. After a rallying coordinated offense, the 508th brought the flag home and secured the victory with impenetrable defense. After the dust settled, the titans of Praetoria were no longer standing.

Final Score: 508th, 1; Praetoria: 0

Game Five-Winning Game: MLG Team Slayer on Narrows

This was a pretty intense game as well. At first, it seemed like a stalemate over who controlled the center of the bridge, then Praetoria was able to break our ranks and push us back. However, we were able to reorganize and push the Praetoria back to their side of the bridge but it wasn't enough, most of the damage had been done with their established lead. Praetoria struck down the last of our kind and officially won the clan showdown. The war had finally finished.

Final Score: Praetoria, 50; 508th, 26.

Final Tally:
Praetoria-3, 508th-2
Praetoria had defeated the 508th.

After such heart pounding action, we then went to some simple Matchmaking and enjoyed Social Big Team with the random noobs and occasional loud mouths.

We at clan 508th-Brigade and Dispatch Films would like to thank Praetoria Guard for all they do for the community and for such a great and memorable clan match. Keep on fighting the fight!

This update wouldn't be complete without some newsworthy bits.

508th Banner Contest Closed

As you may have read earlier, the contest has officially been closed and final voting will commence. Stay tuned this week for the winners of our prizes!

Dispatch Community Game Night

Although our originally planned game night failed to commence properly, we will be re-hosting one soon. Who knows, maybe we'll surprise you guys...

That's about it for now. More cooler stuff next week...

Dispatch Update of August 1st

Image

Lots of talk. Lots of answering. Lots of news. With an overhaul of questions from the fans (and buzzing), we take the time to splatter some more news in your face.

More Change

As you may have noticed we have updated the system and the layout of our portal and forums. "Why?", you ask. Simply because the old one had too many errors with the coding, especially with the new implementation of phpbb3 coding and such.

We are also trying something new with the updates on our frontpage. We thought of going for a more professional blogging system, for this, we turn to the Wordpress integration. We [and by "we", I mean Qwait working and me yelling at him] are still trying to work on this little treat and currently attempting to install it with phpbb3. Stay tuned for an update on this little site project.

With all this new face lifting on our site, I have gotten a bit lazy on my end in terms of photoshopping. This is where you come in.

508th Banner Contest Extended

If you missed the original post and the tools handed out to help you on your photoshopping quest for glory, rest assured, you can still get the details here.

I've extended the deadline for next Friday [August 8th]. So you have an extra week to get your submissions in. Remember, your best work will be selected for voting if you intend to submit multiple banners.

In terms of prizes and placings, I have finalized the prizes for the victorious as followed:

1st Place: 100 MS Points; Name on Blackstone Credits; Respected Member Status; Custom Member Graphic
2nd Place: Name on Blackstone Credits; Respected Member Status; Custom Member Graphic
3rd Place: Respected Member Status; Custom Member Graphic

There may be an "honorable mention" as well... Remember, the sky is the limit!

Prophecy Episode 4

Yes, Prophecy has and will always be alive [so stop spamming my Youtube account inbox about it].

Episode 4 is coming along very smoothly. From what I have seen so far, you will probably wet your pants from its awesomeness. Here are some details to wet your appetite and hopefully silence many questions:

-Title: To The Stars
-It will be 100% CGI
-Action? 99% full of it.
-Features redesigned and revamped CGI modeling and graphics. Everything is new in this episode, from ships to even characters.
-New video dimensions for more depth and a much better video
-Probably one of the best episodes so far

To top it all off, here are some screenies from the episode.

Standby

Fresh Start

Plasma Volleys

That be it for now in terms of Prophecy.

Blackstone Log 2

It's coming very soon...

Project Phoenix

I have been told that the script has been finalized for a while now, production is about halfway, and all the voice work has been completed. More soon!

Dispatch Community Game Night #4

Yes, it is coming back and we've taken the time to create a bunch of new and creative gametypes/ maps for you guys to enjoy with us. Mark your calendars for August 6th, Wednesday [8pm-10pm Eastern Time]...

Hazmat

Regrettably, we cannot deliver Hazmat this Summer and still deliver a great project. For now people, its on hold.

Dispatch Radio

We couldn't deliver a podcast [not yet anyway...] but we've got a radio being set up. Project leads D4L Kevin, Archbomber and Mrpester31 announced their plans to me today [in the middle of this update actually] and plan to be hosting our very own Dispatch Radio for the fans to listen in on updates, clan challenges and just good ol' shenaniganry. Stay tuned for more details as these guys continue to work on their diabolical project.

Clan Showdown

There may be a possible clan showdown in our midst. Calls have been issued, and teams assembled. With any luck, Praetoria Guard will face off with the 508th this week.

Other Schtuff

We're still tweaking and adding things to the new layout of our portal/ forum. You may notice that our "Media" page is missing too, rest assured, it will be coming back up soon. To quote D4L Kevin, "better than ever".

If you actually have been following all the reading up to here, I commend you [you truly are devoted]. Next week, winners will be announced, prized handed out, more news and hopefully some special video treats. Until next time!

Dispatch Update of July 5th

Re-cooperating from an explosive holiday last night, we are back with a bang (pun intended?). July is gonna be a big month for you guys.

This has been a big week for everyone, besides the festivities and the Bungie-tacular news segments and free content, things are about to get even bigger for you guys. (Caution: High exposure to "bang" puns to follow).

Blackrock

That's right, its coming out. I can't say when it will be released because I actually want to have fun with this. So here is a graphic to tease you.

*NOTE: Check back here to watch the final decoding of the graphic as the message will be revealed soon!

I will say this about Blackstone though, we decided that it would be best to be presented in about 3 parts (the parts will be called "logs" actually). Log 1 has been completed and we're currently polishing it up and tweaking things here and there (adding a couple more black rocks here and there, you know how it goes). Log 1 has already been submitted for early reviewing the other day actually, so to answer a lot of questions out there, Blackstone is coming very soon.

Prophecy

No, Prophecy did not die. Matter of fact, we have something very special in store for the upcoming episodes of Prophecy. Let's just say, "return with a bang" has a literal meaning, rather than a metaphorical.

I know this update should have been more of a "bang for your buck" (what's wrong with me?), but this was pretty big news. It's what you make of it I suppose. Until next time, peace out.

DCGN #3 of 6.13

Yes ladies and gents, we have returned (in case you didn't know already) and we kicked off our third Dispatch Community Game Night last night and the final outcome? Lots of fun and random tomfoolery, as well as the occasional lag.

This time around the fans got to play several new gametypes and maps, especially a really awesome distortion map rendered by our pals from Forgehub.

The team this time around:

Dispatch Films/ 508th Brigade

LT1: Breaker of Noobs
Deadite: Hulk Smash?
Achronaut: "Mortal Wombat"
Dragnew: Death from New Zealand!

Game 1: "Lockdown"
Gametype: One Flag CTF
Map: Foundry

Tone: Lagtacular!

This game was very interesting, attackers had to gear up and raid a forged base in which there were only two staircases to enter. The first few minutes were somewhat entertaining, that is, until the lag kicked in. Next thing you knew, a one flag CTF game turned into a free for all monkey HONK! fight. "LAGTACULAR" roared the Deadite as he dissipated into nothingness only to reappear behind the enemy and strike down his foe.

Game 2: "Distortion"
Gametype: Team Slayer
Map: Foundry

Tone: "I'm tripping out man!"

This was the most enjoyable game for me because it was very creative and extremely fun to play with loads of people. It is pretty hard to describe how awesome of a map this creation was (thank you Forgehub!). The two teams spawned inside a sort of zero gee, inverted, "optical illusion"-typed base in which ceilings became floors, vice versa. It was just... Awesomely crazy.

Game 3: "I am Legend"
Gametype: Infection
Map: Standoff

Tone: Deathly?

No Dispatch Film Game Night is complete without a good ol' round of Infection, especially a Deadite "I am Legend" gametype. It was your basic survive and run type of zombie game, although casey006 owned alot of us using the flamethrower. That man truly earned title as "Zombie [/Cabbage] Torcher" with his flamethrower of doom when he found himself all alone (the man got two killtaculars and a killtrocity).

I was not able to stay for the other two games, but from what I have heard, they were a blast and the fans were able to play some Grifball and Prophecy Eagle Stronghold Assault.

To say the least, it was definitely a triumphant return for Dispatch Films this Summer. I was very pleased with the amount of fun we had with the community. Now all that remains for this epic formula of win is the premiere of Blackstone! Bleh, bleh, bleh that's all folks!

*Note: A video covering the highlights of the game night is on the way!

Dispatch Update of June 8th

Zomg an update!? Yes, and I am very sorry for the delay, but many of us have finally got our schooling out of the way and our Summer vacations have just begun! What does that mean for you guys? Well, we have a very nice, juicy Summer planned out for you guys.

Blackstone

What the HONK! is going on with Blackstone?

Rest assured, we have had to re-film this project too many times already just to get every bit of every scene nailed perfectly. Editing is about 1/3 completed and our voice actors have been handing me some very nice stuff for the final piece.

Is it going to be just one huge movie or in weekly parts or something?

My minions and I... er um... Staff, have discussed this issue and it seems we will be releasing segments every week, just to make things more exciting and to help me in the end with rendering this monster. There will probably be a total of three parts.

Prophecy

Did this series die?

Did Frankie die? I rest my case.

When can we expect Episode 4?

Alot of our attention has been concentrated on Blackstone but much of the scriptwriting and plot basics for the entire season for Prophecy has already been completed. Rest assured, new episodes for Prophecy will be coming very soon...

Phoenix

Although this is a Dispatch Films project, most of our cast and crew are not exactly involved directly per se. I just have to say that this is another independent project that some of us decided to help produce and that it is, by no means, hindering the progress of any of our original projects.

Well that is just about it for now, some basic updating... On a Sunday... Stay tuned for next weekend's update (hopefully on time as I get back into the swing of things now). Peace.
